Clerical Alignment - Kelvos

Hi,
I'm thinking of starting a new character as a female cleric of Kelvos based in Mikona. I've just read the rules regarding clericl alignment posted by Oleron, and about how important it is to stick to the alignment of the deity in question.
I'm cool with this rule, even though I'm not a fan of alignment in general (I believe a good role-player shouldn't need such guidelines to stick to), but it's not my world, so fair play to Oleron.
However, looking at the description of Kelvos and the duties of his priests, I noticed the following,
"The duties of the clerics are simple? Gather more followers, match make, as well as help anyone who seems to be in a hopeless situation."
If I go around match-making and helping star-crossed lovers, wouldn't that make me 'good'?
By the definition of helping people, I would assume so, and yet if I actually become good (from neutral evil), I will lose my clerical powers.
I'm a bit confused as to how I should be playing a priestess of Kelvos, so if anyone has any ideas I'd be glad to hear them.
Initially, I was excited about playing a bitter and twisted woman who is very cynical about relationships and won't lift a finger to help any lovers in need, but this seems to be the complete opposite of Kelvor's credo.
This isn't a gripe, but a genuine call for assistance in role-playing.
Please help.
