does Avlis have holy days? hollidays? official days off? world wide accepted days of celebration? nationwide accepted days of celebration? religion based days of celebration?

thanks for that reply Marleh, but those links just showed that the question hasnt been "officially" answered yet. so I'll elaborate;
Can the Team give us a short list of "official" Avlisian Holydays/festivities?
or, if none are decided uppon, give a few guidelines as to what is acceptable so we, the players can come up with something and get it aproved?
(say a holy day in honour of a greater Deity happens only once every 5 IG years, a festivity such as Ferrell monday madness happens every 7 RL days... etc.)
I ask this because a certain guild has a thread on a possible holy day, and the proposed time is drawing nigh...

I've made reference to the 'Goretharian holiday of Festivus' ingame before. Mostly tongue-in-cheek though.
This probably falls best under the 'submit it for approval' category. If there are set holy days, we don't know them - they would be in Orl's notes.
They're probably best left as things to be brought up by DMs as adventure hooks. Or as the guild you mention is using it for, for a special event. So if the OoG sponsor wanted to say one day, 'Okay, next week is Festivus, and a high priest from Galdos is coming to help set up the Feats of Strenth' then he could, and make an event out of it. And not worry about next year
Even if a holy day were 'set in stone,' how would we RP it? Every RL year, like Columbus Day in RL is Ingoren Day in Avlis? Or by the Avlis calendar? I hate to admit it, but I know nothing about the calendar - does it have months?

Some of us are working hard to make sure that the first monday of every month becomes a 'National Keel Elf' day
So join us and help us set to stone a few very needed holidays

Wait I thought that the first Monday of every month was "Give a Bard All Your Gold Day". Or is that just a Ferrell holiday?

There are no formal Holy Days in Avlis that I am aware of with two exceptions: Dru'El's High Holy Day is July 25th, and Cha'reth's High Holy Day is September 19th. Both of those are RL dates, not Avlissian dates.
I've long thought we ought to have more Holy Days, but nobody ever got around to setting them up.

Well, we could always push it to a Tuesday, or a Wednesday... Hell, any day of the week is good for 'Keel Elf' day...
To think about it, we could just dedicate the first week of every month to 'Keel Elf'.....
EDIT: Even better, 'International Keel Elf' week, instead of national... unite all lands and nations for a good old elf keeling... how perfect is that?
*gets his thinking cap out*

... and could the Holy Days be keyed into the text that tells you the Avlis time and weather when you log on?
That way, we'd all know.

I always liked Spellsinger's suggestion that the Equinox be high holy days for Mikon.
As for having it in the NWN calendar, a game day only lasts ninety-six minutes, and spending time writing a script to synchronize the date with the holiday - erch. :S
