"Heroes of Avlis" Bias?

I dont understand why there is a Heroes of Avlis forum of players if there inst one for Villians. Dont you guys think that this would give Avlis more character. I for one never started playing with evil characters until I've played on hala. You woudnt imagine the amount of doors open that make someones playing time on the server more enjoyable. PvP is great. I've played on avlis and have found little or very little Evil characters that get recognition. Is playing an evil character forbidden. Whats the deal with that?

It was discussed actually.

Many players of evil PC's thought perhaps that it would be too hard to do, as describing their exploits would in turn potentially incriminate people that nobody knows of their involvement, and similar things.

Playing an evil PC is in no way illegal... that's why we have forums specifically for it ( private discussion/evil characters )

So, the issue is, to have a board for evil PC's, they'd have to let everyone in on the inner workings of things best kept as secrets, to protect the guilty, vile, and most criminallu insane elements of Avlis.

If they wanted to post it though, I suppose that wouldnt be a problem. Besides, if the villian is discovered for his dastardly deeds, generally speaking, everyone in the world knows about it and them anyway.

You might want to learn a little more about one or two of the characters in the Heroes of Avlis forum...

I think it means "Prominent characters" rather than necessarily good ones :)

Most evil villains end up watchlisted and banned for griefing

it's not a bad idea though.

He is joking.

Seriously though, we could happily post about some of what some villains have done, where those villains are no longer active. Telling the full tale of Isamu and V'Heress would impact unfairly on other current players, but edited versions would be theoretically fine.

Not true, for those that didn't realize he's being sarcastic.

You could put the Evil version as an offshoot of the Evil character's forum, and have it be entirely OOC, unlike the mildly IC Heroes forum. Thus if people want to tell a certain story, they can. Even better, they can change the names of the characters involved to avoid possible metagaming situations in the interest of just telling a good story/plot.

Infact, I just looked at what is posted in that forum and I can positively identify four of those "heroes" as some of the most evil people in the game

I know of some very evil PC's that are around at the moment, but telling their story over the boards is just opening up a can of worms.

I have an evil character who qualifies for heroes of Avlis (by a long shot by now). Many other people have them too. Why haven't they sent off a writeup?

Largely because you don't get evil people who are well known. In evil circles it tends to be the well known who get slaughtered by paladins, and the wily ones working more discretely that get things done. While people may know the latter kind are evil (Such as Damar or Sand), none of their truly evil exploits are widely known.. therefore, why would they have a heroes of Avlis post? Noone knows their villainy =).

The "Heroes" title is a bit misleading. "Legends of Avlis" might have been more appropriate. Trust me, some of the characters written up there would definitely qualify as villians.

Well, it's not as if the people listed there are necessarily representative of the "heroic" population in general.

Even the evil groups have "heroes". A hero for the T'Nanshi would be a villan for the side of M'Chek. It all depends on your point of view.

I can spot a couple of evil, I mean downright evil characters in the Heroes forum. They wrote their own bios, and tweaked them enough to put themselves in a good light, righting wrongs and vanquishing evil, when in fact they were just wiping out competition and taking out guys that were hunting them. Self-preservation always lends itself to poetic license.

The title is perhaps a little misleading, but why ask to change it and give da superb MANuel more work to do than he already has. Its not broke so we arn't fixing it.

If an evil character sends me their Bio I'll quite happily review it with a view to posting it. I have absolutely no problem at all with accepting someone like Aradan Kirs's story.
PvP is great
Erm, do you want to have another go at that?

Is it possible to update an entry if a lot has happened to that PC since? I agree that one of the greatest rewards on Avlis is being a "hero" or legend..very hard to achieve as well. One of the keys to enjoying Avlis is realising that recognition ( in game, not just on the boards ) by your peers, is far more fun than uber gear and high levels.

I would have to assume so. Kered definetely needs an update...

I still want to rewrite Janurs bio somehow, to include his evil deeds.... although I guess when one counts them, there weren't that many really.

I always thought of them as your final mark on the world and recognition of deeds.

Gracie qualifies but she is not done yet so I won't touch it until she retires or dies.
