Are the ports on REALLY long, wide rivers or something?

There is a huge river that flows along the border between T'Nanshi and Drotid. This river leads to a lake that Elysia sits next to. If I remember right, that river continues into Ferrell.

Port Eridanus in Ferrell sits on Lake Eridanus. A river runs from the lake to that long bay beside M'Chek I think. Does Elysia sit on the other side of the lake from Port Eridanus or down that river a bit? Am I close on any of this or completely wrong? Heh.

Edit: Ahhh...it looks like Port Eridanus of Ferrell sits across the lake from Elysia then. Must be a big lake!

IIRC it's a good bit larger then the great lakes. Think of it as a inland freshwater sea.

Only vaguely related and not at all relevant, but mildly interesting:

as Strangg mentioned in a post to Demilich (remember that guy?), the farthest inland port in the U.S. is the Port of Catoosa, just outside Tulsa, Oklahoma.

For all you non-Yanks out there, Oklahoma is pretty damned near the geographic center of the "lower 48"; i.e., if you take the picture you have in your mind of the U.S. on a map (disregarding Alaska and Hawaii), and stick a pin right in what you think would be the middle of the map, that's Kansas. Oklahoma is just under Kansas.

THE POINT: it's possible to have ports WAY the fv[k inland, on rivers that aren't even all that huge.

Speaking of ports, why is it that M'Chek is connected to Port Ni'Reth and Elysia when there isn't a boat that goes between Ni'Reth and Elysia? *scratches head*

Ok if your talking about where I think your talking about.

Ni'Reth is on the east side of the content, Elysia is on the west, and Mikona is at the southern tip of the content. That means depending on which direction the boat faces when it leaves, it could get to either one. But there is no way to get a boat from Ni'Reth to Elysia, with out sailing around Mikona.

Sorta like North and South America, before the Panama canale... If you know what I mean.

Yes, but it seems perfectly logical that a boat would go straight from T'Nanshi to Elysia. Actually, I honestly can't see why a boat would go to Mikona- the two countries are at war; there's no way they're trading. Plus, it's damn inconvenient to have to stop in Mikona if you want to go to Elysia from Ni'Reth... those damn guards have uber spot checks.

There is as far as I know, no river that runs from Eastern T'Nanshi to Elysia, at least not one big enough for a ship to fit on.

In real life it was often quicker to take a long boat ride than a short walk, but of course that didn't hold quite so true for individuals.
