Is it considered "illegal" to log in on a server different to the one where you last logged off? Are you obliged to make the "journey" between servers in real time?

Sorry, I'm new to this.... great, if a little frustrating... so far!

Nope, you can log out in Elysia and log back into Mikona or any server combination, as long as it has been an hour.

One of the reasons we added the one hour delay was to symbolise the journey from one server location to another.

You'll see that it's most often called server hopping. Hop away.

Oh yeah! I remember when I thought it was illegal to do that also. I would go up to Marazdin to mine (no at that time there was no caravan, you hoofed it), then run all the way back to the wilds, over to Ferrell and take the boat to Mikona if I wanted to drop it off there. Luckily, most of the time I was leaving it in the wilderness.

Then one day....I found out....you can server hop legally, there is nothing wrong with doing it, that is what the hour delay is for.

Right. That's a no-no because of the different character databases and doing so could really screw up your character. Stick with the Avlis servers though and you're good.

Oh also ... if you do get to other worlds eventually through the standard means of traveling to them ... find out there if they have multiple servers also; if server hopping there is allowed. I know that on Hala; it is not.

To new server hoppers out there, note that when you hop back to a server you have previously hopped FROM, you'll start in the same place you last were UNLESS the server reset in the meantime, then you'll start in that server's start tent.

I didn't know that. When I played there more frequently, I'd server hop relatively frequently.
