Sometimes, quite simply because it is almost as stressful as Rants used to be for me.

I never find IRC stressful.

Sometimes it is fun and sometimes it is dull - usually fun.
Life is never as bad as you think it is, although that doesn't help at the time.

It distracts me from doing the things I should be doing at work. I do usually log in over lunch though.

They're afraid of that asshole guy in IRC that just comes in and insults people like crazy.

What a dick.

Kind of scared of it for two reasons, #1 is you can catch nasty worm/virus-type stuff over IRC, #2 is a slight paranoia of stalker traces. I guess I could probably spoof for #2 but it's just an added hassle and #1 would still be a concern.

Stratics doesn't allow others to see your IP and as long as you don't accept files from people you don't know you should be fine.
As for #2 as long as you don't go around telling everyone where you live and other personal information you will have no problems. Although everyone in #avlis is pretty normal (for gamers at least :P). Except that EK guy. He's a freak. And all the pouncing cats... and the Roadcones... and the naked gnomes... and... >_>

Why am I not using IRC?

Well thanks to this thread, now I am!

Fun so far... thanks for resurrecting the mIRC "how to" thread, it gave me the kick in the pants I needed to get in on the action. See you folks there!

Isn't IRC sort of like RANTS, but in real time?
