What should the next Avlis sourcebook be about?

PostAuthor: Orleron » Thu Jan 04, 2007 4:53 pm

There's a contract in the mail on its way to me. Once I sign that, I send in the manuscript for the first sourcebook, and we're in the pipeline for 2007!

WoOT!

So I figured, if we do a second sourcebook, what would you like it to cover?

Thoughts? Hard question to answer, maybe, but I figured we could banter a bit.

Voted "feats, classes, spells, races," but got to ask: was that stuff not included in the first sourcebook?

I'm so tired of the bad rap that the beasties get.

Monsters have feelings too ya know.

Voted something else.

The plots that has been run on the PW world.

In my opinion 95% of all the adventures out on the PnP market is crap. Nice layout, nice map, plot.....nope wont happen.

So I´d suggest a book based on plots going on here and before that.
Short adventures, perhaps linked together by a guild, church or region.
That would get me ticking at least.

I voted feats/races/classes, because I think it can (and should) encompass both the Magic option, and the Monster option.

A section on:

Holy Warrior classes
Non-NWN PrCs (Mage of the Trust, others?)

Custom spells (as long as they aren't customized specifically for NWN), and other magic

Then each race, including the monstery ones:

Humans (Romini/Jechrani/Tyeduan/Kurathene/etc)
Nanshi
Fey (O'Ma/Titanian, pixie/nypmh/satyr/etc)
Dwarves
Gnomes
Shaahesk
Dracon
Kobolds
Halflings
Goblin/hobgoblin
Ogre
Giant
Sagahuin (?spelling? the mer-people)
Wemic
Sereg'wethrin
Avariel
Drangonari
Centaur
Minotaurs
Bugbears

I'm sure there are some others...

That'd fill up a book, and it'd be a good follow-up.
Success will be lovely, but you will have to go out and get it! Failure will invite itself in.

Well, the basics of all feats, classes, races, magic, etc. are already in the sourcebook.

What I was more thinking of was a specialized book that looked deeply into each race, class, etc. and gave some histories, and maybe added a bunch more races, classes, etc.

Voted Kurathene Empire. There is no lack of sourcebooks for feats, classes, spells, races. In fact, there's so damn many I lost track a long time ago. Avlis-specific ones would be nice, sure, but you'd be competing with more "canon" WotC stuff. That must be a pain.

Setting source books are where it's at. Probably one of the hardest things to do is figure out where to set a campaign, and the very standard ones such as FR don't really float my boat. Kurathene wins.

Drotid. Gee, what a suprise I'd say that, huh? But it's the most 'different' from the rest of the world, so I think it'd be rather neat.

Alternatively, Tyedu would also be neat.

I voted 'Manuel is my biatch'. 1st because it's true and B (for those keeping count) because the Manuel Manual has a nice ring to it. Besides, half the numb nuts out there type it 'Manual' anyway.

Since only Kurathene is listed, I'd guess that most nations are already covered in the existing sourcebook. So, we should have setting. We also must have Pantheon so that's covered.

So, after the Manuel Manual, I'd have to say Monsters! MONSTERS Woot!

:barb: :jump: :hexe: :opa: :gangsta: :bandit: :crazy:

I would say a book that has monsters, but also has:

* best rants
* best raves
* best quotes
* uber secret happy stuff
* pictures of fortano & his mom

Assuming the book is not automatic, that would make it a Manual Manuel Manual.

Of course, unless Manuel is on some sort of automatic pilot, it would be a Manual Manual Manuel Manual. :lol:

I voted for Avlis feats, classes, spells, races, but I think a collection of Avlis adventures or an Avlis campaign would be great too. Have each DM (Current and some former) write a piece. Someone come up with an initial premise etc and everyone build from there, one adventure at a time. That would make a great companion that I think a lot of Avlis players that also play PnP would really go for. We like the DM's here, we like the plots, let us take one home.

I said Monsters, and I'd include NPC histories for the playable races, too. Like how 3.5e MM has "Kobolds as Player Character" (or whatever it says) sections. Feats, etc. are very limited in A1 and they haven't been finalized for A2, so I think that source book would be limited.

Dang, that's huge, congrats Orleron.

Will that make Avlis the first sourcebook setting to arise from a volunteer-generated MMORPG like this? That in itself would be significant and even worthy of some blurbs I would think.

Can someone remind me again what the first one is about though? I know I'm buying it, I just forgot.

I'm thinking ....

1. Gods. Avlis has so many, and it is a big part of the world.

2. Organizations / Guilds. These also define avlis.

3. Nations / Cities / Ruins / Dungeons etc.

4. Heros / Villians (from before, during and after Avlis1, including NPCs and PCs)

Yes, I believe it is! I do plan to put out plenty of blurbs about that. Have you ever known me NOT to hype something? :wink:

1. Gods. Avlis has so many, and it is a big part of the world.

2. Organizations / Guilds. These also define avlis.

3. Nations / Cities / Ruins / Dungeons etc.

4. Heros / Villians (from before, during and after Avlis1, including NPCs and PCs)
