I think Arnold (from way back when in Conan) would make a decent Caramon, would he not?

Ahhh well I finished them, but was Two Towers fucking hard as hell to read for anyone else? Not as far as hard to understand or anything like that, just boring as hell.

LotR has -nothing- to do with DnD, gah.

The overabundance of magic swag and self-working brooms in every household in Waterdeep with magic replacing technology is exactly the opposite of fantasy systems that are described as "tokienesque" or "arthurian".

Best fantasy movie might be a better poll, but LotR is as un-DnD as Cyberpunk is.
The power of concealment lies in revelation.

I was hoping someone would bring up Army of Darkness. For grandstanding, epic mistakes, and attitude, Ash would fit in at any PC kegger if he left the shotgun at home.

I gotta say..

LOTR = happiness.

Labyrinth = coolness.

But.. I'm weird and really like "A Knight's Tale." n.n

Definitely a good idea!

And... doing a bit of research for a book club... I found this.

Magic Kingdom For Sale - Sold!, the first book, is currently in movie production by Universal Pictures.

Maybe it's old news.. I have no idea. But since it was mentioned here, thought I'd share! :D

Next fantasyish movie to look out for: El Laberinto del Fauno / Pan's Labyrinth.

Check it out.

Neil Gaiman's Stardust will also kick ass from the first reviews of the early early screenings of the movies. It's getting compared to the Princess Bride by most who have seen the early versions (without the special effects). The movie has a nice cast too.

The book was great, can't wait for the movie (out in July 2007 :/).

Some early reviews: here and here
