Note that Netscape Navigator and Mozilla Firefox use the same kernel. Correction. MOST of what is under the hood on both browsers is common.

Depends on the purpose... Each have their own ups and downs. At my old job, where I was doing vbscript and javascript programing for an online interactive website, IE ruled, for home usage, firefox rules, and so on.

FIREFOX!

IE is standard issue at work ... good thing i still have rights to install progs on my machine (not everyone does). Firefox is the first thing i put on a new machine.

I have to throw my lot in with IE. Sure, it lacks in functionality , but it gets teh job done, and lacking all that functionality seems to make it faster, in my experience.

I have been using Firefox for about a month now, and even afetr I dialed back on all the REALLY COOL PLUGINS!!!!1!! OMG!!eleven!! It's still pokey. :?

I don't need glitz and glamor, I need to read the page I am brousing to in a timely manner. Especially when it's my bus schedule.

I use IE, before that I used Netscape Navigator. They both do their job and since I don't need fireworks.. phew.

Firefox :good:

I use it on XP and on Linux, plus on W2K at work.

Opera is not too bad either.

IE is used only for the Windows Updates on XP.
Life is never as bad as you think it is, although that doesn't help at the time.

Firefox with the IE Tab should cover all your needs.

(IE Tab let's you open these occasional pesky pages in a IE tab that simply demand to be opened in IE. Very handy.)


As to the why:

- Chatzilla extension for #avlis
- tabbed browsing
- reasonably fast and stable engine
- you can open a whole bunch of bookmarks in one go, each in a seperate tab. Great for catching up on the various boards for CoPaP.

Hmm, IE always worked for me perfectly. But I don't love it "forever and unconditionally" and if I find something better, I can easily change it any time. Any reasons why I should change the browser and why to Firefox? ;) :P

Adblock is another good reason to use Firefox. :wink:

Also better control of Pop-up windows - and more secure than IE. Well, all of them are more secure than IE. :lol:

With the IETab plugin I'm loving it even more, we have an ugly in house timesheet that will only work with IE, since I got IETab I never open IE now... even windows update works through the IETab :D
