In my pants!

Picked option three, but that's because a lot of new servers are coming up soon, and a lot of new DMs are on the scene, not all of whom are familiar with the backstory of Avlis and whatnot. Some oversight from the man while getting things restabilized would probably speed up the transition in theme.

The first three options are all great, but everyone is here because of what you started with Avlis and Neverwinter Nights. In my opinion everyone's enjoyment of the game will only increase if you get back behind the reigns. I voted for option three.

So for all of you who voted to "whip the team into shape", what do you think that means?

It means that orleron posted a tongue in cheek phrasing for being a more active presence? :)

I think the poll is clear. The question should be what do you think it means. You aren't voting on someone else's opinion, only your own.

Definitely the team. Any organization running on purely goodwill and volunteer time needs some sort of organizer working behind the scenes. A lot of the growing pains Avlis has been undergoing will be greatly soothed by having a strong leader.

However, if you're content for NWN avlis to take its course, and want to work on taking it to the "next phase," the sourcebook, etc. are the way to go. From the purely selfish sense that I don't have time play PnP anymore and stick my limited time in NWN, I voted for (3).

All would be time very well spent, thanks for offering!

Since we can only vote for one option though (I voted Spelljammer! Yay Neagi!!), I'd weight my preferences (out of 100%) :

50% - Getting the Ithilla spelljamming server online
(can't wait!)

25% - Expanding the lore of NWN Avlis
(took this to mean world development? Some major upheaval to replace the War perhaps?)

15% - Increasing the CoPaP playerbase
(I love the idea of the "Confederation", but many worlds are near devoid of players, in my timezone at least?)

5% - Helping to recruit new CoPaP worlds
(Like the idea, with "enough" players that is!)

5% - Whipping the Avlis Team into shape!
(They seem in pretty good shape to me, but I've heard Verg could lose a few pounds? :P)

0% - Writing the Avlis pnp Sourcebook
(As much as I'd love the time to PnP again, I don't honestly think I'd campaign in Avlis; it would "cheapen" the NWN Avlis experience for me?)

But only since you asked!

:)

I went with three as well.

It was a toss up at first between that and the Avlis NWN lore, but then I considered this. There are many people that can develop Avlis lore for submission to the team; in fact, I believe it already happens. A quick review of a pregenerated submission is a lot easier than developing something from scratch. It also benefits the world by providing a broader pool of minds for ideas. This is an area where diversity pays good dividends.

However, there's only one person that knows how you want Avlis to run (i.e. The Vision). While some diversity of ideas from the team members is good, it needs a strong "central clearing house" to keep it in line with the vision.

And that, my friends, is how I would suck eggs.

I picked 3, but I already think the team here is doing an amazing job.

My main (and only) character did quite a bit of world/plane hopping before the new changes, but I'm back home until I see what happens with that. Note the word "home". Someday I'll get bored enough with that character to start another, and I'll have a hard time picking anywhere else to start.

There are many great things in progress. I think my #1 thing would be to finish up some of the projects that are in the works before adding new ones. The crafting updates, the underdark server and a few other things I can't remember right now. I'm just itching to see some of these partially completed projects taken a few steps further.

And before some DM pwns me, I gotta say I agree with Gorgon. My comments above in no way reflect on the team's current performance -- the whole team (not just DM's) is rocking our world!

But I'll stick by my comments above, looking at it from a Type A viewpoint. :P
