A word about modifications made using Bioware crafting

PostAuthor: GreyLynx » Thu May 26, 2005 4:03 pm

Bioware crafting is currently disabled on Avlis, but available on other worlds. Use of this is at your own risk, as currently such changes are not persistent, and will vanish if the item is stored in a p-chest, or is on your death corpse during a crash.

Cheesy modifications are not permitted. One particular example is the case of the "lightsaber", as was stated previously in Ask the Team:

I know, because a character proudly showed of her two lightsabres, one red and one green, yesterday.

well Rockhome can handle their crafting however they want.

However there are 2 issues with the "light-saber" swords. 1) the visual effects can cause serious lag issues. 2) "Light-saber" DO NOT exist in a fantasy setting.

So, if you go to Rockhome and change your weapons to this form and bring them back to Avlis, expect to have them replaced.

Clothing and Armor

PostAuthor: dougnoel » Wed Jun 01, 2005 1:29 pm

In response to the question here: http://www.avlis.org/viewtopic.php?p=550758.

Changing the appearance of your clothing/armor/weapon is IC and not cheesing (except in the case of lightsabers.) You may change your clothing in any way you like, including making it appear to be guild clothing. By doing so, you are agreeing to suffer whatever IC consequences players or DMs inflict upon you when you are caught. This can include, but is not limited to being killed and having the "uniform" looted or destroyed. If you create a copy of a uniform you legally own, it is perfectly legal for non-guild players to loot and use them in any IC way they see fit.

A good rule of thumb from Choral: If you need to wear your uniform, wear it. Otherwise, you can wear something else.

Dougnoel's decision was, in case you missed it (and apparently someone did), superseded in 2007 by a decision here: viewtopic.php?p=1017357#p1017357

Take note, please.
