Life is never as bad as you think it is, although that doesn't help at the time.

We always referred to them as "SLIDERS"

As they SLIDE right through your intestines...

But Chinese has to be the choice. What better combination than high calories, MSG, and enough spice to make you grab for more beer?

Clearly, you Brits don't know much about America! :P

First, to answer your question Xeo, White Castle is actually a fast food chain. People also refer to their burgers as White Castles, though they serve other types of sandwhiches (fish or chicken, just like McD's.) Although version7 technically answered it, I'd say his view is a bit skewed. They are 1/2 to 1/3 the size of a regular McDonald's hamburger and square, grilled in gravy and onions & served on mini buns. Last time I had them, I think they cost $0.59 apiece for hamburgers and $0.69 for cheeseburgers. And version7, some people actually like White Castle and will drive out of their way to stop at them when they travel...like that idiot I married and am subsequently divorcing, who took a detour to NJ on our way to Pennsylvania JUST to go to White Castle for lunch.

Now Fifty, not all Americans are yanks as many here will be more than happy to tell you. In fact, many of them would be most offended if you called them a yank. This post most definitely is NOT skewed for yanks. I am a yank and the nearest White Castle restaurant is several hundred miles away. May I point out that Manuel's location is listed as Missouri, USA? Missouri is in the midwest of the US. Calling someone out there a yank could very well get you shot. I hear there are LOTS of hillbillies and rednecks out that way, but not many yanks. (No, they are not the same things, just ask Strangg. ) I also have to note that who IS considered a yank can depend on your location in the US. Some people only consider New Englanders (people in Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Connecticut and Rhode Islander) yanks, while others think anyone above the Mason-Dixon line (the line that separated the North and the South in the American Civil War, though it was made for a different reason) is a yank. Sorry to ramble on, but I needed to clarify that. :D

Pizza doesn't last long enough to be considered a snack. Five minutes after it arrives, it's gone. doritos all the way. Although, when we do the mid-game snack run I usually get oreos. Mmmm... oreos...

You should see my shrine to the almighty WC. I worship at the shrine twice a day paying homage to 'Edgar Waldo "Billy" Ingram'. In fact, I need to pick up some more incense and burgers.

Given the makeup of American society these days, I have to disagree with you Fifty, sorry. Most folks I know are no longer 8th generation or able to trace their ancestry to the Mayflower. Not to mention in the area where I live, we get an awful lot of people from Puerto Rico...I really have a hard time thinking of them as yanks, heh.

In fact if you want to be technical about it, I'm not really a Yank either. None of my ancestors lived in America during the Civil War, nevermind as far back as the American Revolution. Well...err...most of them weren't anyway. And the ones that were will never be thought of as Yanks, Native Americans maybe, but certainly never Yanks. :P

Sliders were never filling enough for us. We'd start out with pizza, then at mid break I'd make my nacho dip (velvet/rotella + some special ingredients of my own  ). And if we went long into the night (like we normally did) we'd slip out to Sonic and get a bunch of coney dogs.
