aww... too bad we can't dual wield a staff and a longsword !

Gandalf must be a size category larger than all of us !
Anyway, I voted gandalf, hes too cool. But of course, hes not really a wizard, thats just the best description of him, he would be closer to a lesser god, the maiar that he was.

I would say though, he would be more powerful than most of the others as the maiar helped the other gods to shape middle earth. they had powers to raise valleys and level mountains. Just that flashy magic just isn't tolkeins style, and I like him for that. LOTR set the standard !

Yeah. One of the coolest things about Gandalf is he COULD have been a flashy badass like Raistlin ( only more so ) but chose not to. He had a job to do, and he did it.

Screw gandalf man its all about Tom Bombadil! The coolest character in the whole trilogy who got shafted in the movie.

BRIGHT BLUE HIS JACKET AND HIS BOOTS WERE YELLOW!!!
TOM BOMBADIL HES A MERRY FELLOW!

okay so tom was a queer

Gandalf it is.

Sorry raistlin fans, rather boring to read a story about a character that can kill multiple gods. Not very avlis like anyway. Sounds too high magic and experience to me.

sorry gandalf was a wussy. He may have had more magic, but he never used it to any end really. He just sat by idley.

Would I be more scared of a nuke sitting in a closet getting dusty, or the hand grenade thats lying on the floor with no pin? the hand grenade gets my vote.

Errr... are you not counting the time he killed the Balrog; the time he drove off all nine Nazgul outside Minas Tirith; or the time he (return bout) ripped Saruman's mantle of power off him, snapped his staff, and left him basically a feeble old man? Or when he saved the Fellowship from worgs outside Moria with some fairly impressive fire magic? He only used his power against real foes or when it was important, that was the agreement.

Man, some people read that series and never notice all the shit G does - I've even seen some lame-ass Dragon magazine writeup that claimed he was like a 4th level magic user (old-style D&D). Fucking hell, are we reading the same books? :?

I picked Fistandantilus, because I always thought that if the Middle Ages had porn stars, they'd have a name like his.
