A random chat-command (monks) Do Not Use

PostAuthor: PsiOmega » Tue Nov 08, 2011 9:12 pm

Just throwing this out here but there is a special chat command for you monks out there.
Try typing '/speed_toggle' (without the ' ) next time you find yourself IG.

Please do not use this ~Pleth

Does it allow you to walk normal speed if desired?

Indeed. It can also be quick-slotted as a chat macro if you so desire.

What are the odds of getting one for our elven PCs?

does this work walking only or does it slow you down when you run also?

It simply toggles the monk speed bonus. Without it your monk has the same movement rating as other PCs, meaning you run, walk or crawl (when encumbered) at the same speed.

Please DO NOT USE THIS for the time being. It has caused issues with characters being invalid. Myself and Snork are awaiting team-side help for our characters because if it. (still a cool code when they work out the issues though). Thanks.

Edit: This is not a team-response, but a personal warning/recommendation!

For those affected try to login, toggle monk speed off and on and then relog.
Hopefully your PC will no longer be considered invalid.

Do take care if going off-world however and remember to have monk speed enabled when you do.
Going off-world automatically restores your monk speed if disabled but will cause your PC to become invalid again, until fixed at the next proper module update.

Should the unfortunate happen you may be able to make your way back to Avlis to do the steps mentioned at the top of the post but do not count on it.

Do wait with using this command until further notice, unless you took monk for your first 3 character levels.
Deeply sorry for any problems this has caused.

The toggling worked once and I was able to log in without being booted but now am inflicted with being invalid again (when logging in to Elysia). Retoggling does not seem to fix it for now. For those of us caught by the bug are we stuck unable to play our monks until a permanent solution is available?

The original fix did not actually work and you may have logged out before the legal character enforcer had finished running.
A second fix has been submitted and progress is being made to manually correct all affected PCs but some staff members are currently unavailable, causing a delay in the matter.

Again, I can only offer my deepest apologies.

It happens. QA is not perfect. I doubt anyone would have thought to test leveling up with monk levels in different order.

No worries. Coding is complex and all the work is much appreciated. Much better to have fun options available even if they don't work 1st time. Thanks.
