Divine Might and Shield durations

PostAuthor: surfer69 » Sat Jun 11, 2016 9:30 pm

I found this post from Micah earlier:

Micah wrote:I can't remember the exact formula I used when I revamped a lot of holy powers

Divine might and shield...
Potency: CHA mod
Duration: 5 + 1/2 cleric levels + any HW levels + CHA mod rounds
Can be doubled if you use an Extend metamagic rod.

I've had the feeling that the durations have been super short for these for my Bard /Blackguard, and testing just confirmed that it only lasts 11 rounds (66 seconds), which is my CHA modifier, but doesn't take any of my 14 Blackguard levels into account. By my estimation, according to the formula above it should last:

5 + 14 (Blackguard levels) + 11 (CHA modifier) = 30 rounds = 180 seconds.

Am I screwed because I took divine might and shield with HW feats and don't have any cleric levels? Or are the feats functioning improperly, as even the 5 base rounds don't apply? If that's the case, is there a way to fix them?

Any insight is appreciated. Thanks.

From the script, it looks like the duration should be ChaMod + Holy Warrior level (half for Paladin). Not immediately seeing any reason why it wouldn't be that.

Can you make a bug report for this, including the server(s) you tried it on, please?

Scratch that, I've got it: Blackguard of Maleki is currently not counted for the calculation. This will be fixed soon.

Is generic Blackguard (earned on Hala) counted, or should I check?

Maybe it shouldn't be, but it is. Divine Champion is not.

It seems odd to me that Paladin only get half there level as a bonus. I assume it was done to match the "Militant level" change for paladins. However, the need really isn't there. For example a 30 HW/ 10 cleric would get 30 + 5 = 35 round bonus to DM/DM and 25 spell lvls (lvl 9 spells) and 30 Militant lvls. Where a lvl 40 paladin would only get 40 /2 or 20 round bonus and 40 spell lvls (lvl 4 spells) and 20 militant lvls. I really think the HW bonus shouldn't be halved for paladins.

Thanks...

Are these the abilities granted from the AHS? If so, why would cleric levels be halved, but HW be full. I've noticed that the duration on my AHS uses is extremely short, basically no more than a few rounds if I'm lucky. If I'm not understanding this, let me know.

Weird durations still going out. I hadn't known about the changes but was told there were some bonus' and didn't see them. Bug Report. Is there any other information people have about how this should be working?

There is not and never has been a bonus for Cleric levels. Likewise, there's no base 5 rounds in the calculation; both were rejected on balance grounds, iirc.

The duration is Charisma Modifier + Holy Warrior levels (half for Paladins) in Rounds. Both Divine Might and Divine Shield (and some class-specific powers) have their durations doubled by Extend Metamagic Rods.

Just confirming, that Divine Might should have Extended Duration from Metamagic Rod: Extend Spell? I did not see that when I tried (although it wasn't clear in the bug report I did test it)

That bit may actually be broken, on further investigation!
