Yeah, kind of strange, but it seems that my army training and my Tor personea kind of meshed. True story, just was kind of embarrashing in the after action statements to the police. I think they thought I was a bit unstable. Which actually helped me as they were going to charge me with excessive force, even though I was outnumbered 5 to one and I was unarmed and they all had knives. Pretty sad, when that happens when you are just defending yourself. But thats what happens I guess when the police find out you are ex- military, especially ex infantry, etc. But they decided to not charge me as I know they thought I was.....maybe a bit not right in my head totally, as one police officer told me. LOL , guess Avlis saved me from that bunch of Valokian crap! LOL

Check how old this thread is, Cameron. People post when they feel like it. ;)

So... how addicted to Avlis am I?

When my mage character started investigating Fatespinning as a type of divination, I became more interested in just what is 'spinning' anyway, (and not riding a stationary bike, either.) Instead, how yarn, twines, thread, and various types of fiber are made.

Now I own three spinning wheels, various drop and supported spindles, and a two table looms. I have learned how to treat a fleece or fiber from the moment it comes from the sheep/alpaca/llama/bison/camel/rabbit/dog/plant and prepare it for spinning and/or felting. I have learned how to pick, dye, comb, card and blend, proficiency varying. I use such terms as diz, lucette, swift, niddynoddy and rolag in complete sentences without any pause or qualm.

Explaining this is easy here on the boards to other players, but just think about how difficult it is to answer when members of my spinner's group ask me, "how did you first become interested in spinning?"

My husband got a bearded dragon as a pet last May. I fell in love with her. My PC suddenly gets to play with dragons and they are in my dreams. :)

How about this....last friday early morning my comp went down and I spent over 24 hours straight working on it to get it back up so that I could get back onto Avlis to be able to play with you all. Finally got my comp back up and working Sat afternoon or evening time. Was a big relief , let me tell you.

My most recent moment was dreaming I fished up a toy horse in Ferrell and in the same dream reasoning I should save it for Lulu's toy collecting project  .

You spend more time in the toolset each week, building your character's house, than you do cleaning your own house :flucht:

Almost done though

When you only log off Avlis 3 times during a 24 hour period because you don't want to miss any of the storyline (that we me during the Fall of Elysia).

LOL shouldn't that be my reason for being Addicted...that i am always falling asleep at the keyboard because of staying up all night playing with all the wonderful people of Avlis, then have to go to work and without getting any sleep try to get on and play again?

LOL you guys shouldn'g be so much fun...its unfair really ;)

When you have a nightmare that you're on the computer playing Avlis IG but Silver Fox is chasing you trying to kill you and somehow that's scary :?

After a weeks absence, you spend almost every waking minute, lagged out from jet flight, anxious to play late into the night, with people you have only met over a computer connection.
I've spent most of my money on beer, fast women, and fast cars. The rest I just wasted .

*bumps an old topic with another reason*

You know you are addicted to Avlis when you take a week off of work so you can get more new crafting done... and you are so old that you don't care, and tell the people at work the reason too.

I never take my vacation days, so it isn't ever a problem when I actually do (at least outside of any crunch times), but it was hilarious telling them I was just taking time off to play a video game... and they wanted to know more about it. We might even get a few new players.

...you try to meet Avlissians almost everywhere you go. People ask how you could possibly know somebody in [insert place here], and you say "oh, we met online". Then you look really creepy.

You spend your time off trying to fix dead BioWare links (2 of their dead sites now!) and others on the wiki, instead of playing IG, and don't really mind... then come here to bump a favorite old topic just because it was on one of the pages.
