Forum/Group FAQ

PostAuthor: ninja » Tue Jan 22, 2008 3:54 pm

How do I join a group?
* If you want to join a private group, you need to have a group leader of that group add you.

How do I add someone to a group that I am a group leader of?
* Go to your User Control Panel
* Click on the Usergroups link on the left side in the Options panel.
* Click on the Manage Groups button to view all of the groups you are a group leader of.
* Click on the Manage users button for the group you want to add/remove someone.

Remember, all private/hidden forums are based on group permissioning. You need to be in the group that has access to the forum to see it. However, you can also have forum permissions as a moderator. This is not a group. Traditionally, there has been 1 group moderator (usually guild leader) and multiple forum moderators (guild leader, DM sponsor, guild second-in-command).

How do I remove access to a forum?
This is done by removing yourself from the group.
* Go to your User Control Panel.
* Click on the Usergroups link on the left side in the Options panel.
* Click on the Edit memberships.
* Select the radial button for which Usergroup you want to leave.
* Select 'Resign Selected' from the dropdown at the bottom of the page and hit Submit.

This has come up a few times again lately. If you are a group leader of a forum and need to know how to add someone, check the second question in the first post.
