Okay, it's time for a decent music thread. Forget that YouTube thread! In here you post your favourite Band - Song, for me to listen to. If other people are interested in it as well, then that's just a great bonus!
So, what's your favourite song of all time? If you can't decide, you can always post several. Don't even need links, just the band (or artist) and the name of the song (not the album). I'm always in search of great, new music!

I could sit down and listen and enjoy just about anything. My favorite songwriter of all time is Stephen Foster, who wrote many American classics in the 1800s. Of his works, my favorite is Sweet Emerald Isle. I have yet to find a competent recording of it yet : /

Sting - Fragile

Edit: my list of Stephen Foster songs doesn't even include the one Godveric mentioned.

OK, my favorite S.F. songs I currently have are.. Camptown Races - of course! and Comrades fill no glass for me.

I also have a bit of a story in relationship to Swanne River related to the brief time I was living in Florida in grade school.

Comrades Fill No Glass For Me - Stephen Foster
Oh! comrades, fill no glass for me
To drown my soul in liquid flame

To blighted fortune health and fame.

I love a lot of different music, but if I'm thinking of all time greats it would have be This Land Is Your Land by the great Woodie Guthrie.Generally, I hate folks songs and singers with a passion but this guy was something special.

Uhhh, in terms of all-time most played it's probably Chainsaw, Addiction, or Nature's Revenge by Skinny Puppy.

This is not the best song in the world, but a tribute to it.

Fun side note: The Tennessee Stud was turned into a book! "Rode" by Thomas Fox Averill who said he wrote the book because he was curious as to the "rest" of the details between each stanza. 8-)

One is too hard.
Most Neil Young falls into that category.
As does most Tom Waits.
And Leonard Cohen.
And Nick Cave.
One song is too hard.
One performer/band is too hard.

This definitely as close at "best" that it gets for me.

Tom Waits-Tom Traubert's Blues (Four Sheets to the Wind in Copenhagen)

I like music that makes me feel (like someone punched me in the heart).

I've seen Nick Cave live in London. He lives in Brighton on the coast.

He's one of my favourite song writers... Done some truly awesome songs.

So many songs have occupied my title of "best" over the years. This is none of them:

The Real George Washington

I was reminded today of Queen - We Will Rock You

Bababamp! Bababamp!

Edit: I found that book about the Tennessee Stud in my library system and it's on the way to me. :D

Edit: Maybe we need a thread for 'music I bet nobody has ever listened to but I do'

K. 496 (Allegro) John Browning - 30 Keyboard Sonatas
Comrades Fill No Glass For Me - Stephen Foster
