Question for people who hit sh*t and like haste

OK, couple of folks behind the curtain are prodding at the Blinding Speed feat. It sucks. So, what we're wondering is which is more useful to people who might have it (mostly rogue types, archer types, high dex requirement). If you don't have it, you can still answer.

Pretend you have an item that gives haste. Would you rather have

Many uses of shorter duration (say 10 rounds but used 20 times)*

or

Fewer uses of longer duration (say 40 rounds used 5 times)*

* - these values are hypothetical only.

And if you have a reason, why would you prefer it?

Many uses of shorter duration (say 10 rounds but used 20 times).

After combat, there's often a pause to loot or just recuperate a bit, or even just stand around complimenting each other for awesomeness. So a long duration won't really help as much, I feel.

Of course, this assumes that the ability will be used for combat, not for long-distance travel.

Signed,
- A player who will never again have a character without haste

As one that has had that feat.

Longer please; it always seemed to be to short. Charge in with blinding speed and its normal speed.

I break my buffs into short/mid/long/longer.

Haste would need to be a mid-length. It needs to last an entire encounter to be worth it. So I would say longer based on your uses/duration

More uses of shorter durations. I'd like to see multiple uses over several encounters as opposed to burning a lot of duration inbetween encounters. It's more in line with its original version, and makes more sense considering it's an Extraordinary Ability as opposed to a spell-like or supernatural magical ability.

The many more uses with a shorter duration is more versatile, I'd say, and is probably preferable for the purposes of being able to RP between encounters.

Another option could be just giving it a five minute cooldown or something though, you can just give yourself a burst of haste every so often, but you can't keep it up all the time.

On the servers I've played that altered it, my favourite alteration was one that included a hard bonus to ac based on dex modifier and an additional bonus to ab/ac when activated.
But given the choice i would pick a longer duration, which is in line with pnp giving you an extra five rounds every time you take it as a feat.

Increasing the base duration, with additional time calculated with either DEX or CON scores, could be an option. I'd probably opt for multiple use with shorter duration, though.

I'm more for more uses with shorter duration. My rogue doesn't need it for the full fight, just long enough to take out the tough targets quickly and turn the rest of the encounter into dominos.

Also alter it so it can't be dispelled. I highly doubt Dex fighters are pulling energies from the Vortex like a 7th level mage just by being nimble. That change alone would give reason to burn a feat instead of just stocking up on haste potions.

Longer duration, fewer uses. There is a reason no one chugs low level haste potions (mostly), the duration is so short, it is almost useless. You are either taking one every encounter and in a large dungeon it adds up quickly, or you are losing it in the middle and having to retake.

I'm in the longer duration and fewer uses camp, myself.

If hitting sh*t includes archery, then I'm going to add my $0.02.

I'd prefer longer duration with fewer uses. The duration that haste has now always runs out sooner than I would prefer.

I would say more uses shorter working, because in truth if you like longer lasting there are some mages about who make wands that last pretty long. so if you have both handy your setup pretty good. if you need a quick boost for a small encounter use blinding speed , need a long boost for a big encounter use a wand.

Unless your character can't use a wand.

+1, I see this used more for those who cannot use wands.

I would like to see it as the spell haste but with the following exceptions:

Use character levels as caster level
Uses per day increase +1 every 10 levels.

Example:
A lvl 24 character can use it 2/day and it lasts 24 rounds.
A lvl 30 can use it 3/day and lasts 30 rounds.
A lvl 40 can use 4/day and lasts 40 rounds.
