Avlis Lowbie Weekend (April 16-17)

PostAuthor: Jazz » Fri Apr 08, 2016 11:41 am

After the massive success of the Avlis Player Reunion a month ago we've seen many old players return and play their beloved PC once again. Some of these players have decided to make a new PC to mark the beginnen of a new Avlis chapter. We also still have new players go through registration and join our RP servers. There have also been quite a few Remort requests recently. So, in an effort to welcome all these new PCs (and players!) we've decided to hold an:

Avlis Lowbie Weekend

April 16th and 17th

What does this mean?
DMs from all timezones will be out in full force during this weekend to make sure there will be plenty to do with your lowbie. Events will be scheduled in advance, so check the Event Calendar and IC posts for that. Alternatively, you as a player can set up an event to draw players in and possibly a DM.

Which PC should I log in?
You have three choices:
1) Make a brand new PC! Maybe even have a remort? Make new ones together with a few other players and start as a group? Once logged in, you can page a DM and ask them for some beginner gear (non enchanted weapons and armour) or Adventurer Starter Kit (simple stuff like Healing Kits), if they happen to be carrying one. Because I'm sure your PC did have something of use before you started playing him/her?
2) Log in with a lowbie, level 1-9. Start playing and join the fun!
3) Log in with a PC of level 10-40. Sure, you can still play them this weekend! Lowbies need advice, world lore or powerfull allies.

Important notes:
- During this weekend DMs will be catering towards lowbies solely and possibly exclusively. If your non-lowbie happens to be in a Lowbie Event, a DM might ask you to remove yourself from the event. I hope you can understand this!
- Do keep in mind that a Remort request takes The Team a few days to process, so be smart and Remort in advance!

Do you as a player want to make an event? Reply in this thread and I'll post it in this spreadsheet! DMs will also post events, but: the more the better!

Nice! I welcome more lowbies!

As my Dwarf barely no longer qualifies as a lowbie, I might roll an alt, not sure.

I was already planning a Shem meeting if some wants to bring their Druid or ranger out
Just hear those sleigh bells jingle-ing, ring-ting tingle-ing, too
Come on, it's lovely weather for a sleigh ride together with you
Outside the snow is falling and friends are calling "yoo hoo"

I would like to host/run a lowbie "auction" during this Lowbie Weekend. If anyone wants to help or cohost, shoot me a message and we can discuss. I will pick a time once the team has a chance to set up their events. :)

Very kool idea! Always had a lot of fun back when Tor was a lowbie. So this lowbie weekend should be pretty fun if its anything like what Tor did as one.

And I understand about the whole DM asking to have high level PCs leave, I mean not everyone can bask in the manly warrior Tyeduan wodness aura that is Tor and survive intact or unchanged.

And speaking of the lowbie auction, can anyone auction stuff or only lowbies?

Anyways, good luck to everyone and should be lots of fun.

We are all looking forward to meeting YOUR new lowbie, Cameron! Just please don't make Tor Junior. Or Lil' Tor. Or, god forbid, Tora.

Will this be one winning bid per customer, or can Brant buy a whole army of lowbies?

I guess that depends on whether the seller is auctioning a lot or a single.

I'll split them with Brant! Say 25 lowbies each?

Do they come with gear already, or do we have to supply them with picks and torches for mining? :P

Sorry Seka, not going to make a new PC, and anyways I thought you could not play your own offspring. Unless of course that ruling has been changed. Only way for me to play a lowbie again would be if some God or something zapped Tor back to a 16 year old again, or something like that. And its not about being a level 40 character, its about the character. But Tor does have a twin sister named ...Tora. If that's any consulation.

Okay, added a spreadsheet, it will (hopefully) slowly be filled up with events, both from players and DMs. Feel free to post your events in this thead. Also, if I made a mistake with the timezones, please let me know!

I added a function to sign up on the calendar for my lowbie auction. Please do so if you plan to attend so I can get an idea on how many bags for newbies I should make.
Thank you! :D

I'd like to add an event sponsored by the Malekites at the Rock in Mikona, at 11:00 AM EST on Sunday morning. Just awaiting some DM feedback (hint hint, Pleth). For the placeholder, you can call it "A Public Service", and I'll post again as soon as I get approved or DENIED!

As a back up for my Lowbie Auction, since only two people are signed up, I will do a quick giveaway of gear to them and perhaps a quick adventure/crump in Mikona. :)

I am converting the "auction" into a small giveaway and exploration around some Mikonan dungeons.

Will host an "auction" with more prep time later this month.
