Connection problem with Mikona, Widerness and Visi

PostAuthor: Jedisniper » Mon Jan 11, 2016 3:59 am

Hi guys, sorry if this is the wrong place to post this...Please apply the appropriate level of punishment if this is the case... or just blame Snow.. :D

Anyhoo... I got back from holidays yesterday and sorted all of my re-registration stuff, added all of the Avlis servers etc and was able to connect to all of them. I wasn't able to directly log in because I had the default GOG CD Keys.
I have since found my old CD Keys and entered them into the game.

Now when I try to connect to Mikona, Wilderness or Visi I just get the server timed out message.
I have no issues with any of the other servers and can see all 3 of my Avlis characters when I attempt to log in.

I have seen 1 or 2 players both on Mikona and the Wilderness via the server list, so I am assuming the servers are up and running and it is some sort of authentication issue on my end.
I have tried directly connecting and also transitioning from Le'or into the Wilderness with no success.

If anyone could provide some advice or assistance, it would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Snipes

Can you portal from say Elysia into the Wilderness Server?

If you can, then make sure you have the correct server information to log in with.

i just tried to get him places, I have no idea what the issue is. Though at least one character is corrupted in weird ways (invisible model)

I would agree with you, but then, we would both be wrong..

Maybe try creating a new character?
Also perhaps we could do a bic restore?

:?

As mentioned in IRC http://www.avlis.org/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=83805 talks about the same connection issues, but doesn't say how it was fixed. http://www.avlis.org/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=81393 is a really old one, so I don't know if that applies. Sorry I can't help more there, but I forgot too much from back then.

The invisible model is from the new CoPaP haks (he hasn't played since 2008) and adding dynamic half-ogres to them. Most converted on their own, but some models were different, and now are the wrong number. A DM probably can wand him to the new dynamic model, as in the following topic.
http://www.avlis.org/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=107631

It is more of a discussion about the other models not being dynamic, but a few talk of the old half-ogres not updating, and needing a wand job (sorry, couldn't resist :P ). I do remember a few missing models from back then too with that change, though I can't find the linkage for it with my access now. It basically is using the wrong model number now, so I think the same fix should work.

I hope that helps.

I appreciate all the help guys!
(Especially Gorgon for searching all of that stuff and Pleth for her help last night trying to portal me here and there)

I've tried everything that has been suggested with no luck.
I am thinking that it may be some sort of bug that happened when I initially setup the game / avlis the other day and still had the Original GOG keys instead of my old game keys.

I am doing a full re-install now with my old keys and will try that to see if it works.
Failing that, I have also made a new account and will activate that shortly to see how i go.

I will update progress shortly.

Thanks again!

Ok,

So full re-install, new CD keys, all haks and files checked and correct - Can't connect to the problem servers, all others ok
New Gamespy Account created and authorised - Can't connect to the problem servers, all others ok
Firewall, Antivirus and Malware disabled - Can't connect to problem servers with either account, all others ok

I am out of ideas :(

Cheers,

Well.... what an interesting few days of troublehooting it has been!!!

Problem solved! :good: :applaus:
It turns out that my default client port in the nwnplayer.ini file was conflicting with the servers... port changed to 5140 in the .ini file and all is right with the world :D

Thanks sooo much to Pleth  , Gorgon :2thumbs: and anyone else behind the scenes that helped with sorting this out..

But Major thanks and props NEED to go to Krackq for his patience and hard work!!
Thanks man, you are a legend! :respect:
Epic server monkey FTW!!

For a while there I was beginning to think I was going to have to RP all of my PC's being afraid of the Wilderness and large cities!!

Hahaha...

See yas in game! :D

It is sad how much I can forget after so long, but yeah, that would do it.

Nice work, and glad you got help from someone with a better memory than mine.
