Before I rolled my PC, he/she was influenced by?

PostAuthor: theP » Sat Sep 12, 2009 6:05 pm

Greetings Avlisians!
Two Nights ago, I was thinking about my New PC and what fictional or real Personality he'd have parallels to.
I knew he had been influenced by Akira Kurosawas' portrait of Toshirō Mifune as Kikuchiyo (The loud-mouthed, boasting, wanna-be Samurai Character), a little bit of Yoshimo from BG2, a little slice of my personality, some of Brad Pitts impersonifaction of his Character in Snatch (here) and those Neighborhood Thugs that are up to no good.

So, who's your Character? References are welcome!

Hert is totally an organic product of the world, though I had some vague idea of a heroic George of the Jungle when I rolled him.

Michel began as Hawkeye Pierce from M.A.S.H.

Jack Kenthel is a sort of a cross between an Ultimate Fighting competitor and Jack Burton from Big Trouble in Little China. :)
Success will be lovely, but you will have to go out and get it! Failure will invite itself in.

Eleanor's influences are all from bits of art i've seen over the years, and one animated thingy which was of a Shadowdancer beating the living hell out of some orcs, plus she is like a female version of me in a way with a bit more of a "don't give a shit" attitude thrown in.

Morathi didn't have any real influences, she developed on her own... *shrug*

Naia I just thought would be a neat idea...

Miriel is an original OC of mine, pretty much a product of the old World of Darkness influence leaking in the 3.5 FR setting. In retrospect, her backstory might have been partly influenced by Arya Stark. Only, Miriel's step-mother could easily be described as a true Lanister, - and it shows, doesn't it.

Kate was influenced by the portrait I choose for her and the impressions that that portrait left on me.

My original idea for Findail was an Indiana Jones type adventurer with a bit of swashbuckler. Heh. That didn't exactly pan out. Instead, he became an outlet for a lot of the facets of my personality that I ~don't~ get to exhibit/exercise on a day-to-day basis in RL. That's one of the key reasons he'll NEVER join a military organization. He's my break from that shit...

Oddly enough, Rick is based on Eddard Stark in some respects. (Justice isn't just a consideration, it's the only consideration)

Hebrin is based on...okay, here goes the list, Nightcrawler, Kwai Chan Cain, and all those 60s and 70s kung fu movies (you know the one where the master says that he is dying, but he's caused the other master injuries that will cause his death in a week).

Mel is also completely a product of Avlis since I had no preconceived ideas otehr than the initial skill set (rogue) and just let the influence of others dictate the direction of the character. Had it not been for a bout of the spite while 2nd or 3rd lvl (and the grease spell diarrhea effect that caused the guards in Mikona to go hostile to you and easily kill you and the fact that there was no cure then) he might have turned out completely different cause I never would have retreated to Elysia (where the disease code didn't work and therefore was a cure  )

Otherwise who knows :anmachen:

Bedlam was an alt i made when my former main was starting to become no fun. I made LOTS of alts back then, and Bedlam stuck. He was my first caster. After i realized that i liked playing him, and some people liked what i was doing with him, i figured that maybe i should figure out where to go with him.

For a minute, i gathered some influenced from Kefka from Final Fantasy 6, Darby Crash from the Germs, Iggy Pop, and David Bowie for his personality. Now, though, i let other people influence his personality as much as I can. His style would probably be influenced by Liberace, Gary Glitter, and the New York Dolls.

Ving, on the other hand, is just a stereotypical wererat. I took some of his aliases from The Rats in the Walls by H.P. Lovecraft. I took his name from the singer of Fear, Lee Ving.

Having never role played before joining Avlis, my character is a complete IG development.

Eldrea's initial character was informed, in no particular order, by the singer Diamanda Galas, David Cronenberg body-horror flicks*, and my somewhat ill-considered ideas of what someone raised in a fantasy-evil society might be like. Naturally the result was, in retrospect, embarrassingly awful, though time and experience eventually eroded away some of the worst of her failings as a character.

Orfanos, being rolled up a year or so later, was much more wholly a product of the Avlis setting from the start, with outside influences like the dodgy south London would-be hard-man accent being brought in purely to add flavour.

*Mostly Crash. Possibly also that one with the girl with the evil blood sucking phallus in her armpit. Scanners, not so much.

My long unused alts are pretty straight forward:

Daika is pretty much Dakkon from PS: Torment.
Radcliff Jones is pretty much Jack Sparrow mixed with Gardfield.

Mithrenar (wiped ex-main) was a dark tarot storyteller (a la Red Violin) mixed with Mediv from Warcraft.

Eudaimon Dawnblade has turned a bit more complex. I wanted him to start as some sort of "special" hobo.
Later on, however, the character apparently turned into some odd mix.

I´d say he´s a mix of Anakin SkyW, Dr. House, Denny Crane (the practice) and Rick Blain (Casablanca).

He´s been quite unstable lately but he should become stable (or dead) once a plot finishes.

TBH Legolas was the main influence for Tesh with a sprinkling of xenophobia, which he seems to be mostly cured of now
