Another "What do you think of my character?" question

PostAuthor: Gorgon » Wed Jul 09, 2008 12:54 am

Same idea as this: http://www.avlis.org/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=105985

How does my PC "Smeec" appear to you as a character you have met IG? I don't want opinions on me as a player, since everyone knows I'm flawed in many ways. :P

I'm thinking this kind of thing would make for an interesting added category to the forum, as long as it is only done after a player asks by posting... and rants aren't involved  If it doesn't catch on, you still get the chance make me take off the rose colored Elton John glasses, and set me straight about how annoying he really is.

Well, I can only really speak from Hert's perspective... he seems like the sort of guy Hert might end up disliking if they ever got to talking, but Smeec never presses the religious issues and he's always guarded, he's been friends to the Order in the past, and he's got enough financial pull for Hert to refrain from trying to press.

The sort of guy who I assume probably has strong opinions about something... but I'll be damned if I know what.

Have always loved Smeec as a character. I remember when I was first starting Avlis, years ago, and someone had mentioned to me that Smeec was one of the master tailors around. I wanted to be a tailor at that time, and tried to cozy up to Smeec the first time I met him. Result? Nothing! Pretty much got completely ignored, all IC, as Brant made it pretty obvious he was angling for information. Years later, after lots of interaction, Brant and Smeec are obviously pretty good friends, and have helped each other out plenty.

That's Smeec in a nutshell: rough around the edges, somewhat standoffish at first, but a true gentleman and a good friend once you take the time to get to know him. (Plus what spool32 said!)
Silver Fox: I hear they've been stepping up attacks in Elysia.
Ulu Elexin: Hah, it's interesting that they are even drafting in fairies to fight them now.
Brant Risko: *snickers* Be careful... I'll tell mister Ang that ya called him a drafted fairy.

PsiOmega from the other thread wrote:I've seen a few character Wiki entries with a section where others are encouraged to add their view of the related PC.

People who read the character info pages on the wiki, let alone read the wiki at all, makes it less than worthwhile to try that approach. I don't read those pages, since the few I did were full of things I shouldn't or couldn't know. *notes he is an avid hater of emote posts (self dm'd RP posts that no one has a chance of seeing IG, but everyone supposedly knows) *

This is just an idea for a bit of perspective. Most players would be a bit surprised how they view their pc compared to what others see. You wanna ask, go for it.

*edits* Yes I'm trying to un-hijack that thread. My bad

Smiles, but totally evil. Repressed evil, but would stab you in the back with a sewing needle, if given the chance or too many vodka martinis. Master tailor, but takes too long to make things (Probably because he is out robbing people's houses when he says he is "sewing"). Might be a distant cousin of Damar. Those sides of the family probably hate each other. All in all, my kinda guy. Thumbs up!

<Hijack>Before we have oodles of such thread open: I think I know quite well how Janur used to be percepted, back when I was a regular.

But these days, he's mets lots of folks who haven't seen him before but might have heard of something...

...so, what's the perception these days?

*edit: Oh, and I think I actually never managed to meet Smeec... which is a pity, I'm sure.

I haven't spent much time with Smeec but he seems neutral on the good/evil thing. Mostly into making and selling things. Cool idea. I often wonder what people think about my characters. I'm probably not going to start a thread though or hijack this one. People can PM me if they want. I like getting PMs.

Smeec reminds me of Odo (sp?) from DS9. The kind of tailor you wouldn't really want to f*** with.

You know, I first though Smeec was a kobold tailor. Thought that would be cool. Then I found out he was a half-elf, so *shrugs*. He does die quick, though. But only when he goes out adventuring.

Ah you mean Garak the Cardassian
But yes thats a pretty good likeness.

Smeec is some one my Character doesn't have much to do with outside commerce but he knows that he would like to be more like Smeec. Smeec is an unassuming type, but you know not to cross him.

My OOC opinion of Smeec is that he's Satan incarnate. Not because of anything I've heard of him doing, but I can just sort of tell by looking at him. Eeevil!

No, you don't. Congratulations.

As for Smeec, I find it utterly charming that he always tries to wear a new outfit to each Musical Madness, and that he is known to bid outrageous sums for items that catch his eye at the trade fairs. I am sometimes surprised at what will anger or get a reaction out of him, but most times he drifts at the back of the crowd.

From what Nawen's seen and knows, Mr Smeec is great, moody, grumpy but friendly enough to travel and chat with. Yet he silently screams "mess with me and I'll f*!king kill you, your family, your friends and I'll dress them nicely for their funeral but no discount"

He's like a big brother type to Grace. I also always seem to see him as Tom Selleck. I have no idea why.

Shh, he's one of Smeec's role models. Less charisma than Magnum by far 8-) , but the idea of being poor yet living the rich life sorta fits. Not so poor these days, but always short when the rent is due.

He still wants a red, multi-rothe powered wagon...
