Justicar

does anyone have/play a Justicar that can answer some mechanical questions about the PRC? I'm really not sure how certain abilities work the wiki is lacking in quite a bit of information about this particular holy warrior class...

Wiki: Justicar
Protection vs Chaos ... does this work like protection vs. Evil, how is the duration determined
Lay on Harm ... does this work like the Blackguard version?
Smite Chaos ... 1/day? do you ever get extra uses outside of "Extra Smiting" feat?
Battletide ... as the spell? how does duration on this work
Inspire Confidence / Inspire Greatness ... what do these do?

as a group, do these work like the Psion equivalent and force you to make a power roll? or are they guaranteed to work. Again duration based only on your holy warrior level? or something else entirely.
Soldier's Resolve (Intelect Fortress)
Shatter Doubt (Suppress Fear)
Toran's Insight (Danger Sense)
Unshakeable Will (Tower of Iron Will)


and are caster levels gained on even or odd Justicar Levels?

I have a Justicar but have no idea, I just have 10 levels in it too. I think you might need to summon Loki70.

From my understanding it works just like protection vs evil or good, just keyed toward this particular axis. Duration I have no idea...hr/level based off justicar levels perhaps?

Lay on Harm ... does this work like the Blackguard version?

Lay on harm/hands should be universal afaik...so it should work as justicar level x charisma modifier in divine damage against the target

Smite Chaos ... 1/day? do you ever get extra uses outside of "Extra Smiting" feat?

Should fall in line with the other custom HWs, and give caster level on even levels, spells/day on odds

The rest I really am not sure on, not playing the class myself...the Inspires afaik are group AoEs that buff up combat effectiveness...battletides difference from the spell, dunno...and the psion derived powers i have never seen or tested, though if Toran gave his justicars powers they had chances of not being able to use i think that would be sort of inefficient.

Pek got some information for me and I wanted to post it to share.

    Inspire Confidence: +1/5 Justicar levels to Attack, Damage, Save and AC (max +3, party buff)

    Inspire Greatness: uncap the maximum bonus for Inspire Confidence

    Protection from Chaos: Functions like Pro-good/evil against Chaotic allignment

    Soldier's Resolve: non-chaotic allies in aura gain +X AC (dodge?), and +x/5DR soak for every 10 ranks discipline (requires turn-undead use). At the end Justicar is slowed for 5 rounds.

    Toran's Insight: as Danger sense, Immune to Sneak/Death Attacks and Traps

    Unshakeable Will: as Tower of Iron Will, Immune to Mind affecting

Ability durations seem to be linked to 5 + Cha mod + Justicar level TURNS
Unlike Psionic abilities these do not require power checks to succeed.


With Smite & Lay on Harm working like Holy Warrior Smite, and Lay on Harm as Blackguard ability of the same name.

I can't say for sure where he pulled the information from but this answers most of the questions!

I'm not sure how accurate stuff is in regards to duration, I can double check Inspire Confidence, Protection from Chaos and Soldier's Resolve when I have time.

Unfortunately, most of these things rely on high charisma, which is not Rickus' strong suit. Inspire confidence is I believe round per Justicar level, as are most of the other skills. Then again, that's when I played a lot, which I haven't in a while. I do know that since my active days most of these had been revamped at one point or another. If there is a code monkey around, they might be able to tell you more. The Unshakeable Will, though, has a messed up graphic that can prove very annoying at times.
