Just a simple question I've always been curious about, but do DMs hear whispers?

Is the distance you can hear a whipser from altered by the listen skill?

If you want a DM to hear what you're whispering, you could try emoting *whispers* or something beforehand.

Actually, I believe the listen skill does alter the distance at which you can hear stuff, not just whispers but normal speech as well. This is something I noticed while using the DM client, and the fact that excessive stealth skills makes other character not hear what you type made me wonder if I wasn't just imagining things.

I made a lot of tests with this, including having a PC and a DM avatar standing on the same spot simultaneously and having other people talk and whisper at various distances. Those tests showed that there is a difference, at least in PC/DM case. From playing experience with characters with varying listen scores I believe this is due to the listen skill and not a simple difference between the normal Client and the DM Client, though I can't be sure of that.

As a matter of interest, what IS the standard distance for hearing whispers? It's something I've never been sure of... :?:

I believe the default is around 10'. It's not terribly far at all.
