There seems to be some confusion about this subject.

Nobody is actually breaking the Rules by going somewhere alone. If you are strong enough and brave enough to explore the World alone, then good luck to you. Bear in mind that the World is sometimes unpredictable and you may not always find the same enemies in the same place - especially if you go anywhere often enough to know what to expect. (DMs don't like seeing the same people always in the same place - see the Rule on Camping)

Also of course, if you are alone and get killed, you are out of luck. Prayer rarely helps in this situation.

However, it has been made clear many times that this is a Roleplaying World. Roleplaying alone can be rather difficult and rather dull.

Therefore, we would all prefer that you form a party and go into 'Harm's Way' together. Company can save your life, or guard your corpse until your God sends you back. Company can help you stay alive. A Mage to zap the enemy from behind your back can be useful. On the other hand, a Meat Shield in front can protect your sorry little Mage behind.

Most of all, Company is more fun. If you feel otherwise and prefer to be alone, then there are other Worlds - or of course, both NWN and NWN2 come with Single-Player Modules. These are dull, but that is due to the lack of Roleplay.

Party up and Party on people. Don't let anyone encourage you to do otherwise.
Life is never as bad as you think it is, although that doesn't help at the time.

An addition to this:

If you do go somewhere dangerous in a Party, please make sure that all party members actually DO something, not just stand around hugging the walls and acting like a piece of furniture whilst the others fight.

If you are not strong enough to fight then you can heal the others, sing encouraging songs, shoot the spawns from the background, tell a witty anecdote, make smartarse comments, etc. - anything rather than just standing in the background whilst the others fight. This sort of inaction tends to make the DMs upset - which leads to all sorts of nasty things happening to your PCs - usually including visits to your Gods, pain, harsh words and various other unpleasant events.

One last point, if you are much lower level than those who are fighting the spawns - why are you there? If you have an IC reason for this, then there is no problem. This could be that you are all in the same Guild or Order (a Training Session), or perhaps you were all chatting at Elf Gate or The Rock when the event started.

Otherwise, the more suspicious minded of the DMs might get the idea that you are there just to gain some free XP and to help the higher levels do so as well. DMs tend to get upset about that too.

You wouldn't want to get the DMs upset, would you?

A reminder. Towing lowbies around just to get better XP is a good way to get yourself a Watchlist, VaultJail or Ban.
